About the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Diagnostics and Cardiovascular Surgery Center (cardiology clinic), a public-sector entity

The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Diagnostics and Cardiovascular Surgery Center is the only cardiology clinic in Yugra and is the largest consultative and diagnostic healthcare facility providing cardiology services in Yugra. Within the framework of the National Healthcare Project and the Regional Project on Cardiovascular Diseases Prevention and Control, the Center serves as the organizational and methodological headquarters. The Center coordinates the fulfillment of the projects activities with a target to reduce mortality rates due to cardiovascular diseases and prolong life expectancy in Yugra’s population.

The current bed capacity of the Center amounts to 238 beds, including 61 cardiac surgery beds, 132 cardiology beds, 30 intensive care beds and 15 beds in the Cardiology Day Patient Department.

Yugra Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Center staff consists of more than 1,100 employees, including 235 physicians and 467 nursing professionals. In our physicians team there are 50 cardiologists, 12 cardiovascular surgeons, 33 anesthesiologists and 8 interventional cardiologists.

17 members of our team have MD-PhD. 4 of our medical specialists are Chief External Experts of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra Healthcare Department (in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, genetics and arrhythmology). 33 % of our specialists have the highest qualification categories.

The total floor area of all the Center’s buildings is 42,000 sq. m.

The healthcare facility is equipped in accordance with the international standards. There are 2,033 units of modern medical equipment.

The full range of cardiovascular surgeries are performed in our In Patient Department: surgical treatment for coronary heart disease, valve repair or replacement surgery, congenial heart defects surgery, reparative vascular intervention, hybrid surgical procedures, surgical treatment of arrhythmias, X-ray endovascular surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery.

More than 6,400 patients receive treatment in the Center every year, more than 4,100 surgeries on the heart and great vessels are performed, including more than 700 cardiopulmonary bypass surgeries. Up to 150 surgeries are carried out in children with congenial heart defects, including endovascular interventions. About 600 arrhythmia surgeries, more than 6,700 X-ray endovascular procedures, more than 2,600 endovascular surgeries and more than 1,400 emergency surgeries in acute coronary syndrome are performed here annually.

About 20 – 35 patients come to the Admission Department every day. One in three patients needs emergency admission.

Not less than 20 cardiac surgeries are performed in the Center every day; at least 4 of them are carried out in patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Cardiology Day Patient Department allows to provide the full range of healthcare to patients who does not need full -time medical surveillance.

More than 1,200,000 consulting and diagnostic services are provided to the patients of our polyclinic annually: more than 200,000 consultations, about 240,000 diagnostic examinations and more than 760,000 laboratory tests.

More than 700 appointments with specialists (medical specialists are available in 18 specialties) are provided in the polyclinic annually, 740 diagnostic examinations and 1,500 laboratory tests are performed.

Diagnostics is available in the following 6 fields: endoscopy, functional diagnostics, radiology (including ultrasound diagnostics) and laboratory diagnostics (including medical genetics).

Every third appointment with a cardiologist in Yugra is an appointment with one of our cardiologists.

The Center’s Genetic Consultation is the only medical department in Yugra that specializes in diagnostics and treatment of hereditary diseases. Cardio-prenatal case conference with participation of geneticists, obstetrician-gynecologists, pediatric cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons is available for making decisions on carrying of a pregnancy and management of a newborn.

Our Genetic Consultation provides its services to about 15,000 families in Yugra annually. More than 600 cases of inherited and congenital defects are revealed annually. Over the past 10 years, the birth of more than 800 babies with congenital defects and severe chromosome disorders has been prevented.

Infant mortality in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra in 2018 was 2,8‰ (in Russia in 2017: 5,6‰).

We develop various forms of fieldwork. More than 20 visits to different locations of Yugra are organized annually to provide specialized medical care and to select patients for the timely surgical treatment. Up to 20 % of the examined patients are referred for the in-patient treatment.

Remote technologies are widely used in the work of the Center. The regional telemedicine system allows us to provide emergency and elective consultations.

There are cardiology distance-counseling centers (CDCC) at the premises of the Cardiology Departments No. 1 and 2 for emergency consultations of patients with acute coronary syndrome being admitted to the regional hospitals. Consultations are available twenty-four-seven in online mode. More than 120 consultations are provided every month.

For children with congenital heart diseases there is CDCC No. 5 at the premises of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care No. 3.

For patients with arrhythmias there is CDCC No. 7 at the premises of the Department of Surgical Treatment of Complex Cardiac Arrhythmias and Cardiac Pacing.

Since 2019, there is CDCC No. 8 for specialists who provide primary healthcare in the field of cardiology.

The Department of Cardiology of Surgut State University Medical Institute was founded at the premises of the Center in 2011. At the present time, 85 medical residents study here in such specialties as cardiology, cardiovascular surgery and anesthesiology and intensive care. Highly qualified specialists who were trained at the Department successfully work in Yugra healthcare. In the last 5 years, 25 specialists were employed by the Center after the graduation from the internship.

Our Achievements

Every year the specialists of the Center win regional stages of Russian national contests “Best Doctor” and “Best Nurse”.

According to the results of the independent assessment of medical services quality in 2018, Yugra Diagnostics and Cardiovascular Surgery Center heads the list of Yugra healthcare facilities.

In 2018, the Center took part in the Russian national competition held by the Public Chamber “The Best Practices of Healthy Lifestyle Popularization in the Russian Federation”. Our projects “Red Dress” and “The Museum of Heart” were at the top of the list.

The Center has been honored with more than 480 awards of different levels, including Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation (3) and Excellent Worker of Healthcare (16). 51 of our employees are awarded with certificates of achievement and diplomas of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation and more than 300 with the awards of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Department of Healthcare.

Annual reduction in cardiovascular mortality in the region is the achievement of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Diagnostics and Cardiovascular Surgery Center.

Over the last 10 years, cardiovascular mortality rate in Yugra has fallen down by 14 %, and is now 2.5 times lower than the corresponding rate for the Russian Federation. There are people’s lives behind these numbers. Over the last 10 years, we have saved 4,000 lives!
